6 ports of call you’ll have plenty of time to discover during the MSC
World Cruise 2021
The journey of a lifetime with MSC World Cruise 2021 is all set, with MSC Poesia ready to whisk you away to 6 of the world’s greatest cities. The global adventure will visit 53 incredible destinations in 33 countries, sailing around the world over the course of 118 nights. Departing from Genoa on January 5th, 2021, the journey begins by heading out of the Mediterranean, and across the Atlantic. For the duration of this unforgettable voyage, the ship will be heading east, crossing oceans and taking in port visits that will last long in the memory of those there to experience them.
To ensure your full immersion in the wonderful destinations, the ship will stay overnight at selected destinations, providing plenty of time to explore.
San Francisco, United States
By day 32 of the 118-day MSC World Cruise 2021, MSC Poesia will have successfully navigated the Panama Canal and will be set to encounter another global engineering phenomenon upon arrival in San Francisco; the spectacular Golden Gate Bridge. The famous 2,700-meter-long red structure is considered by many to be an engineering wonder of the world, having first opened for use in 1937. Within San Francisco Bay itself is Alcatraz, a famous island once home to infamous criminals and the scene of daring escapes while in operation as a prison. Today the old prison welcomes visitors, rather than ruthless criminals, from all over the world. While in the port area, must see activities include visiting the popular Fisherman’s Wharf waterfront area of the city, and taking one of the famous trams that traverse the steep hills San Francisco is built on.
Sydney, Australia
After crossing the Pacific Ocean, guests will soon be immersed in the hustle and bustle of Sydney. When leaving the ship to explore the city, Sydney Harbor makes for an excellent starting point. Many of the iconic city views can be seen from the harbor, including Sydney Harbor Bridge and Sydney Opera House. Sydney Opera House is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is truly a site worth seeing, especially if you can catch a performance at the iconic global venue. Other locations to visit include The Royal Botanic Garden, and just a short drive away from the city is the fabulous Bondi, recognised the world over as one of the world’s best beaches.
Osaka, Japan
A great place to start is the Osaka Aquarium, which is often described as one of the most impressive in Japan. It displays a huge range of aquatic life inhabiting the Pacific Rim. For a more cultural experience, The National Art Museum of Osaka is a must, displaying a wide range of Japanese and foreign contemporary art. The building housing the museum was designed to represent the growth and shape of a bamboo plant.
Tokyo, Japan
MSC Poesia’s arrival in Tokyo marks day 77 of the global voyage. The city is home to some of the most important museums in Japan and the wider region. Tokyo National Museum, as one of the largest museums in the world, houses important artworks and archaeological objects. 4,000 different items are displayed in the permanent collection. There is also the Ginza shopping district, where soaking up the atmosphere is an experience in itself. By night the district glows with its many neon lights.
Shanghai, China
As one of the fastest growing cities in the world, it is hard not to be impressed by the city’s rapid development, which has seen amazing skyscrapers shoot up across the skyline. From the ground the view is spectacular, but why not visit one of the many bars or restaurants in the high-rises that line the river that bisects the city, and enjoy the city from above.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Dubai is a destination with something for everyone. From shopping at Dubai Mall to relaxing on Kite beach, there is a truly huge range of activities. In terms of landmarks, no one can to miss the Burj Khalifa, standing at 828 meters tall, where visitors can zoom 124 floors up to reach the observation deck, thankfully in a high-speed elevator!
Passengers embarking the MSC Poesia on the MSC World Cruise 2021 are set for the adventure of a lifetime. Leaving Genoa on January 5th, 2021 the ship is set to transport guests from the most beautiful of tropical paradises to the largest of the world’s mega cities. And all in the style and comfort our guests have come to expect from an MSC voyage.
